Laconia-------Mrs. Marjorie M. (Sanborn) Martin, 97, of 70 Prescott Avenue, died peacefully in her sleep in her home on Sunday, June 5, 2005. She was the widow of Harold L. Martin.

Mrs. Martin was born July 20, 1907 in Sanbornton, NH, the daughter of Clifton and Eva (Kendall) Sanborn. She graduated from Laconia High School in 1926 and was a graduate of Keene Normal School, Keene. Mrs. Martin lived in Massachusetts for a number of years before moving back to Laconia in 1992. Mrs. Martin was an art teacher at Proctor Academy, Andover, NH for many years. Her artwork was shown in a number of shows throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Mrs. Martin was a member of the Laconia Congregational Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Marjorie C. Furlong, of Laconia; two stepsons, Walter Martin of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Richard Martin of Merrimack; two grandchildren, Michael Furlong, of Laconia and Vanessa E. Furlong of Sydney, Australia; five step grandchildren, Geoffrey Martin, Susan Martin, Lynn Martin, Kris Martin and Cynthia Martin; six great grandchildren; a nephew, John P. Morgan and a niece, Dorothy Sanborn. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her first husband, Forrest J. Sanborn; by a son, Haven C. Sanborn and by two brothers, Kenneth O. Sanborn and Edward Morgan.

There will be no calling hours.

A Graveside Service will be held at the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia, on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at 11:00AM. Rev. Dr. Warren Bouton, Pastor of the Laconia Congregational Church, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc. (For the Hospice Program), 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
