Laconia-----Mary Eugenie (English) Thompson, 86, of 30 County Drive and formerly of Goffstown, N.H. and Lawrence, Mass., died Sunday, July 5, 2009 at the Belknap County Nursing Home.

Mary-Jean was born Mary Eugenie English, August 14, 1922 in Lawrence, Mass. to Margurite T. (Guerin) and Charles P. English, Sr. She attended and graduated from Lawrence schools. Mary-Jean was also a veteran having served in the U. S. Navy during WWII working out of New York City and Washington, D.C. She had many interests and hobbies and was a very talented artist and poet. She loved the ocean and enjoyed taking trips there with her family. She especially loved York Beach.

Survivors include her daughter, Margaret “Maggie” Noonan, of Laconia; her grandson, Craig Barkal, of Belmont, her granddaughter, Kimberly Gentile, and her husband, Joe, of Laconia; her grandson, Michael Noonan, of Gilford; her grandson, David Noonan, and his wife, Heather, of Laconia; her great granddaughter, Hayleigh Willette, of Gilford; her brother, Frederick English, of New York City; her brother, Francis English, of Andover, Mass. and her long-time friend, Norbert Poulin, of Manchester, N.H. Mary-Jean was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Marguerite; by her sister, Margaret “Peggy”, and by her brother, Charles.

There will be no calling hours.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at a later date when her ashes are placed in her family plot in Lawrence, Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, N.H. 03246.
