Gilmanton Iron Works-----Wesley Ethan Sargent, 47, died suddenly on July 14, 2009 at the home he built at 456 Mountain Road.

Wes was born November 28, 1961 in Laconia and attended local schools in Gilmanton and Gilford. As a young teen, he worked as a roustabout and clown, traveling with the Great American Circus. He served with the U. S. Army, including overseas duty in Korea.

Wes was employed by the State of NH as a chef for over fifteen years and with several construction companies before becoming a self-employed carpenter prior to his passing.

Wes loved family activities and trips with his sons. He enjoyed the Patriots, the Red Sox and his interests included cooking, fishing, boating, cars, motorcycles and music. He took pleasure in having discussions with his friends and playing his guitar. He was a former coach with the Gilmanton Elementary School soccer team and with the Gilmanton Little League.

Wes loved to work with his son, Ethan, and spent a great deal of time with Mason and Caleb at Wesley’s mother’s home in Hillsboro. Wesley made friends wherever he went.

Wes is survived by three sons, Ethan, Mason and Caleb, all of Gilmanton; a brother, Darryl Sargent, of Manchester; two nieces; a nephew; his father, Prescott Nathan Sargent, and his wife, Gayle, of Gilmanton and his mother, Elizabeth (Thompson) Gagne, and her husband, Roger, of Hillsboro; three aunts, Marilee Abbott of Las Vegas, Nevada, Judith King of Lehigh Acres, Florida and Cindy McCarthy of Hillsboro and many cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 20, 2009 from 6:00-8:00PM at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.

A Memorial Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 11:00AM at the Gilmanton Community Church, 1807 NH Route 140, Gilmanton Iron Works, N.H.

Burial, with full Military Honors, will follow in the family lot at Sargent Cemetery, Guinea Ridge, Gilmanton, NH.
