Laconia-----Gordon “Buster” C. Hounsell, Jr., 81, of 765 Union Avenue, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Friday, July 24, 2009.

            Buster was born December 9, 1927 in Laconia, the son of Gordon C. and Flora (Giguere) Hounsell.  He lived most of his life in Lakeport/Laconia before moving to Edgewater, Florida in 1984.  He moved back to Lakeport in 2008. 

            Buster had served in the U. S. Army during WWII.  He had been employed as manager at the Globe Store and at the Mammoth Mart and had formerly been employed at Carpenter Paterson.

            Buster was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion Wilkins Smith Post No. 1, the Veterans of  Foreign Wars Laconia Post No.1670 and the Laconia Lodge of  Elks No. 876.

            Buster loved his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.  He was a Red Sox Fan and enjoyed sports and fishing.

            Buster is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Adrienne (Landry) Hounsell, of  Lakeport; two sons, Gordon C. Hounsell, III and his wife Cheryl of Laconia and Kent L. Hounsell and his wife Caroline of  Edgewater, Florida; two daughters, Charlotte E. Wood of  Port Orange, Florida and Johnna-Dee Davis and her husband Greg of Gilford; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.  In addition to his parents, Buster was predeceased by his brother, Sheldon P. Hounsell.

            According to Buster’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Hampshire Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia, N. H. 03247.
