Send a condolence note

Gilmanton---Ralph A. Rigione, 80, formerly of Center Harbor, died after a short battle with cancer at the Gilmanton home of his daughter, Pamela Dixey, on July18, 2008.

He was born Sept. 14, 1927, in East Boston, MA to Domenick and Anna (Pignato) Rigione.

Spending a majority of his life in his native state, he semi retired to Center Harbor where he spent the last 34 years before moving to Gilmanton, after his wife of 60 years, Paulina, passed away.  Mr. Rigione spent his entire life caring for his family. Mr. Rigione was a squadron member of the American Legion Post #1 Laconia.

He was a salesman for Holland Furnace Co. and then owned and operated Acme Power Vac. He then managed the Staffordshire Inn and Restaurant in Moultonboro.  After the Inn closed, he worked for Ray Gignac, former owner of the Galley Restaurant.  When Ray Gignac wanted to sell the restaurant, Mr. Rigione partnered with his brother, George, and bought what became known as Rigione’s Galley.  Mr. Rigione retired in 1993 and enjoyed the remaining years with his wife traveling and enjoying his family.  He always took chances in his life and was very generous to his children.  He was an avid horseplayer and enjoyed all his friends at the Belmont Dog Track.  After his wife predeceased him in Feb. 2007, the track was often where you would find Ralph. He moved

to Gilmanton in the Fall of 2007 where he resided with his daughter, Pamela.  He looked forward to spending time with his great grandson, Michael, every week. He will forever be missed by all.
