George I. Leighton

Sanbornton-----George I. Leighton, 84, of 365 Lower Bay Road, died at his home on Saturday, January 3, 2009.

Mr. Leighton was born May 21, 1924, in Laconia, NH, the son of Ira M. and Belle (Bean) Leighton.

Mr. Leighton was a lifetime resident of Sanbornton and was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Sanbornton. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was employed at Webster Valve for twenty-one years. He was a member of the Belknap County Farm Bureau.

Mr. Leighton is survived by his wife, Rosanna (Swinglehurst) Leighton, two sons, Karl G. Leighton and Allen W. Leighton, and a daughter, Kathryn Leighton, all of Sanbornton. In addition to his parents, Mr. Leighton was predeceased by his three sisters, Helen Duvall, Grace Doubleday and Pauline Simons.

According to his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, N. H. 03246.
