Alton Bay, N.H.-----Carl Robert “Bob” Johnson, 76, of 138 Roger Street, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, on Tuesday, January 6, 2009.

Mr. Johnson was born August 24, 1932, in Brighton, Mass., the son of Carl Gunnar and Ruth (Anderson) Johnson. He grew up in Stow, Mass. and lived there for many years. From 1970 to 1985, he summered in Alton Bay where he built a summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee. In 1985, he moved permanently to Alton Bay. Mr. Johnson served in the U. S. Air Force and was stationed in Labrador. He marched in President Eisenhower’s Inauguration Parade.

Mr. Johnson and his brother, Arnold, owned Johnson’s Garage in Stow, Mass., for 25 years. He later was employed at Laconia Water Works for 12 years.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine (Kurtis) Johnson, of Alton Bay; a daughter, Linda M. Johnson, of Arlington, Virginia; a sister and brother–in-law, Ruth and Ralph Banfield, of Stow, Mass. and a brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Judith Johnson, also of Stow, Mass.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2009 from 6:30-8:30P.M. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, N. H. 03246.

A Funeral Service, with military honors, will be held on Friday, January 9, 2009, at Noon in the Chapel of the N. H. State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, N.H. Burial will follow.
