Elisabeth L. Miller

Meredith-----Elisabeth L. Miller of Meredith died peacefully at Forestview Manor in Meredith on Saturday, January 16.
Bettie, widow of Henry A. Miller was born to Dr. John and Adeline (Foster) Outhouse of Shelburne Falls Mass. on December 28 1912. She leaves a daughter, Charlene Knight and son-in-law Pete Knight of Meredith, nephew Arthur T. Simmonds, Jr. and family of Rye, a niece Charlene Freeman and family of Florida and Hamilton Mass. a cousin George T. Foster and family of Seattle, and a nephew Neal Minor and family of Hamden Mass. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Marguerite, her husband, and her son, Rick.
She was educated at Bay Path Institute and Columbia University. During WWII she worked in the quartermaster corp as a civilian. She taught high school business at Arms Academy, Shelburne where she met her future husband.
She moved to Meredith in 1958 and worked at Shep Brown’s Boat Basin and later for the Town of Meredith.
She enjoyed towle painting, sewing, crewel embroidery and weaving and was a member of several weaving and embroidery organizations.
In Meredith she worked timelessly for the local NH League of Arts and Crafts and was instrumental in turning it into a year round business.
She loved her summers on Bear Island (starting in the 1920’s), her work at Red Hill Inn, the town of Meredith, and trips to Tenants Harbor Maine.

According to her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
Burial will be in the family plot in Arms Cemetery, Shelburne Falls, Mass., in the spring.
