Patricia A. Barnard

West Alton-----Patricia A. Barnard, 77, died at Genesis Eldercare Network, Laconia Center on Saturday, January 23, 2010.

Patricia was born May 7, 1932 in Summit, New Jersey, the daughter of Francis A. and Anna F. (Edmunds) Keane. She graduated from Summit High School in Summit, New Jersey and attended Stafford Hall School of Business, also in Summit, New Jersey, where she met her husband Bob.

In 1951, Patricia and Bob moved to New Hampshire and for many years she owned and operated a summer cottage rental business on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee in West Alton, N.H. She enjoyed watching summer sunsets from her porch at the lake. She was also a bird watcher and liked to read and do crossword puzzles. For many years, she and Bob drove back and forth to Scottsdale, Arizona where they enjoyed winters in the Southwest. On their trips, she took many photos and had a hobby of making greeting cards with her photos.

Patricia was a member of the D.A.R. in her youth and was a longtime member of the Pilgrim John Howland Society, being a direct descendant of that Mayflower passenger. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Patricia is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert J. Barnard; her children, Jeffrey S. Barnard, of Moultonboro, Susan L. Irish and her husband, Roland R. Irish III, of Claremont, Wendy A. Carlson and her husband, Noel C. Carlson, of Nottingham and David B. Barnard and his wife, Brenda M. Barnard, of Hopkinton; her grandchildren, Roland R. Irish IV and his wife, Alta E. Irish, of Charlestown, Robert P. Irish of Claremont, Jesse D. Carlson and Hannah E. Carlson of Nottingham, Sarah E. Barnard and Christopher J. Barnard of Hopkinton; a great grandson, Roland R. Irish V, of Charlestown; a brother, Robert E. Keane, of Fernandina Beach, Florida and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Patricia was predeceased by a brother, Philip D. Keane.

There will be no calling hours or funeral service. A private burial service will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, N.H.

The family has requested no flowers, but donations will be appreciated to the charity of your choice.
