Juliette "Julie" M. Monahan

Laconia-----Juliette “Julie” M. Monahan, 87, of the Taylor Home Community and formerly of 121 Belvidere Street, Lakeport, N. H., died on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at Ledgeview, Taylor Home Community.

         Mrs. Monahan was born October 1, 1920 in Laconia, N. H., the daughter of Adelard and Amazelie (Morin) Martel.  She was a lifetime resident of Lakeport and a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes Church.

         Mrs. Monahan was employed as a bookkeeper at Hopkins & Barlow in Lakeport as well as other area businesses.  She loved her family, the out of doors, golf, sewing and knitting.

         Survivors includes two daughters, M. Margaret “Peg” Monahan of Harrisville, N. H. and her husband, Harry Wolhandler, and Jean Monahan-Doherty and her husband, John, of Woburn, Mass; four grandchildren, Ann N. Goodrich-Bazan of Winchester, N. H., Jeanne M. Wolhandler, of Harrisville, N.H., Jay Doherty and Patrick Doherty both of Woburn, Mass., two sisters, Theresa Orpin of Franklin, N. H. and Frances M. Guyer of Belmont, N. H.; several nephews and nieces and Peg and Harry’s extended family, Justin and Leneille Howe and Cassandry and Aaron Medvidofsky.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Monahan was predeceased by her husband, Francis M. Monahan, in 2001; by a daughter, Kathleen “Kaye” E. Monahan, in 1966; by a sister, Madeline Rollins, and by a brother, Alphonse Martel.   

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2008 from 2:00-4:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 7, 2008 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington Street, Lakeport, N. H.

Spring burial will be in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Goss Reading Room, Laconia Public Library, 695 Main Street, Laconia, N. H. 03246 or to Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington Street, Lakeport, N. H. 03246.
