Leo Murphy

Belmont-----Leo Murphy, 77, of 14 Farrarville Road, died at Franklin Regional Hospital, Franklin on Wednesday, January 26, 2005.

Mr. Murphy was born April 2, 1927 in Laconia, NH, the foster son of the late Carl and Pearl Sanborn. He was a long time resident of Belmont, NH where he attended the local schools. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps from 1945-1947.

Over the years, Mr. Murphy was employed at Franklin Brush Co., Cormier Hosiery Mill and Belknap Sulloway Mill. He retired in 1992. Mr. Murphy was a former member of the Wilkins-Smith American Legion Post #l. He enjoyed visiting family, mowing his fields and telling jokes.

Survivors include his beloved wife of fifty-five years, Elizabeth (Vallier) Murphy of Belmont; two daughters, Cathleen Murphy-Gillis and her husband, Sidney, and Cynthia Murphy-Mang and her husband, Barry, all of Pittsburgh, PA; a son, Patrick T. W. Murphy and his wife, Susan, of Belmont, NH; seven grandchildren, Karen Dorman of Laconia, NH, Jason Murphy of Belmont, NH, Benjamin Gillis of Pittsburg, PA, Annie Gillis of Philadelphia, PA, William Murphy of Belmont, NH and Christopher Mang, and Trevor Mang, both of Pittsburgh, PA; two great grandchildren, Dominic Santiago and Alexis Dorman, both of Laconia, NH; two sisters, Eileen Moulton of Manchester, NH and Rita Dunbar of Boscawen, NH; half-sisters, Virginia Murphy of New Hampshire and Shirley Mahoney of New Jersey; a foster sister, Evelyn Pearl of Loudon, NH; a half brother, Durwood Woodman, Jr. of Connecticut; foster brothers, Milton Sanborn of Milford and Roger Sanborn of Laconia and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his foster parents, he was predeceased by his parents, William and Donna (Brace) Murphy, by a brother, Thomas Murphy, and by a half-sister, Barbara Murphy.

Memorial Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2005 from 3:00PM-6:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Parish, 96 Main St., Belmont, NH on Monday, January 31, 2005 at 10:00AM

Burial in South Road Cemetery, Belmont, NH will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246 or to Belmont Firefighters Relief Association, PO Box 837, Belmont, NH 03220.
