Kathleen "Kay" MacDonald

Bridgewater-------Kathleen "Kay" MacDonald, 77, of River Road, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005 in Bridgewater. Mrs. MacDonald was the widow of William L. MacDonald who died in 1988.

Kay was born April 10, 1927 in Laconia, NH, the daughter of Henry H. and Merle (Glover) Shorey. She was raised in Laconia and was a graduate of Laconia High School, Class of 1945. In 1983, she moved to Bridgewater.

Kay was a former member of the United Baptist Church, Lakeport and also attended the Meredith Center Baptist Church.

Kay was a member and Past Noble Grand of the Ashland Rebekah Lodge #67; a Past District Deputy President, Past Grand Organist of the Rebekah Assembly of New Hampshire and was currently serving as organist and secretary of the Ashland Rebekah Lodge. She was employed and a very active member of the Plymouth Regional Senior Center and was a member of the Sweet Adelines and the Scale-E-Wags Quartet.

The highlight of Nana's life was her grandchildren. Kay enjoyed watching football and baseball. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking and playing cribbage. She would plan and host the annual MacDonald Family Reunions and was the coordinator of the LHS Class of 1945 monthly luncheons and was chairman of the upcoming 60th Class Reunion which is to be held this summer.

Survivors include three sons, William MacDonald, Jr. of Canaan, NH, Michael MacDonald of Oak Grove, Missouri and Scott MacDonald of New Hampton, NH; three daughters, Loraine Normandie of Canaan, NH, Maureen MacDonald of Argyle, New York and Maxine Rockwell, of Laconia, NH; a stepson, Ronald Baker of Salem, CT; fourteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary S. Boucher of Laconia, NH and Doris S. Donovan of Lake City, Florida and several nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Gardner Shorey, and by a sister, Eunice Elliott.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2005 at 11:00AM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360 State Route 101, Suite 501, Bedford, NH 03110-5032, the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049 or the Plymouth Regional Senior Center, 8 Depot St., Plymouth, NH 03264.
