Howard A. Hawthorne

Gilford -----Howard A. Hawthorne, 86, of 23 Lake Breeze Mobile Home Park, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, on Sunday, January 5, 2003. Mr. Hawthorne was the widower of Georgianna G. (Cotnam) Hawthorne who died on October 15, 1994.

Mr. Hawthorne was born April 8, 1916 in Franklin, NH, the son of Henry and Josie H. (Chase) Hawthorne. He lived on Hoadley Road in Belmont for a number of years before moving to Gilford eight years ago.

Mr. Hawthorne served in the U. S. Army. He worked for the Laconia Shoe Company for thirty years.
Mr. Hawthorne was a member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Laconia Post 1670 and the American Legion Wilkins-Smith Post #1.

Survivors include a son, James H. Hawthorne of New Hampton; a daughter, Norma Lee Patten, of Belmont; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; two brothers, Leslie Hawthorne of Franklin and Robert Hawthorne of White River Jct., Vermont; a sister, Arlene Coffee, of Franklin; a brother-in-law, Arthur Tilton of Franklin and a sister-in-law, Virginia Pelletier of El Paso, Texas; and several nephews and nieces. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by three brothers and one sister, Paul Hawthorne, William Hawthorne, James Hawthorne and Lyla Tilton.

There will be no calling hours

A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday June 8, 2003 at 2:00PM the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH is in charge of the arrangements.
