Rye-----Howard W. Fales, Jr., 88, formerly of 514 Sagamore Road died at the N.H. Veterans Home in Tilton on Wednesday, February 18, 2009. He was the widower of Charlotte Haire Fales who died in 1998.

Mr. Fales was born February 13, 1921 in Laconia, N. H., the son of Florence B. (Jewett) and Howard W. Fales, Sr.

Mr. Fales served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He served aboard the USS Charger and the USS Langley. Mr. Fales was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard from 1949-1983. He was a fifty year member of St. Andrews Lodge #56 F. & A.M. of Portsmouth.

Mr. Fales is survived by a son, Howard W. Fales III, and his wife, Betty, of York, Maine; two grandsons, Aaron Saad and Daniel Saad; several step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, William W. Fales, and his wife, Verna, of Portsmouth; two sisters, Barbara St. Pierre and her husband, Armand, of Laconia and Beverly Rowson and her husband, George, of Southampton, N.J. and four nephews and four nieces. In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Fales was predeceased by a daughter, Carol L. Saad, and by a brother, Charles H. Fales.

There will be no calling hours.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H. on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 11:00AM.

Spring burial will be in the family lot in Highland Cemetery, Rumney, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the N. H. Veterans Home, 139 Winter Street, Tilton, N. H. 03276.
