Oliva J. Maheux Send a condolence note

Gilford-----Oliva J. Maheux, 92, of 8 Bedford Avenue died at the St. Francis Healthcare Center, Laconia on Wednesday, February 6, 2008.  Mr. Maheux was the widower of Virginia R. (Jacques) Maheux who died in 2000.

         Mr. Maheux was born March 9, 1915 in Laconia, N. H. , the son of Gideon and Ida (Morin) Maheux.  He was a lifetime resident of the Laconia-Gilford area.  He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and had been  employed at Northern Heating & Plumbing from 1946 until his retirement in 1979.

         Mr. Maheux was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.  He was a member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks #876 and the American Legion Wilkins-Smith Post  No. 1.

         Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Ames, of Moultonboro; one son,  Michael R. Maheux, of Gilford; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one brother, Paul Maheux, of Laconia; two sisters, Lucille Canepa of Belmont and Lorraine Groleau of Laconia and several nephews and nieces.  In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Maheux was predeceased by a son, Francis R. Maheux, December 21, 2005.

There will be no calling hours.

         A private graveside service will be held in the spring at the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia.

         In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.

         Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H. is in charge of the arrangements.
