Earl R. Forbes Send a condolence note

Belmont---Earl R. Forbes, 83, of 6 David Drive died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Thursday, February 7, 2008.

Mr. Forbes was born March 26, 1924 in Plymouth, N.H., the son of Bertram and Leila (Avery) Forbes. 

Mr. Forbes served in the U. S. Army during WWII.  He served with the Armored Tank Division in the European Theater.

Mr. Forbes lived in Gilford for many years before moving to Belmont twenty-five years ago.  He was employed by NYNEX for thirty-three years before retiring in 1986.

Mr. Forbes was a longtime member and former director of the Belknap County Sportsmen’s Club and a past president of the Telephone Pioneers of America.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, cribbage and his coffee club at Paugus Diner telling stories with his buddies. He also was a volunteer pioneer to restore the Shaker Village telephone system in Canterbury and was a lifeline installer for the elderly in the Lakes Region.

Mr. Forbes is survived by five daughters, Linda Wilkie of Plymouth, Kathy-Jean Uhlman of Thornton, Jennifer Forbes of Laconia, Alison Morin of Gilford and Jacqueline Harzmovitch of Laconia; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nephews and nieces and his loving companion of twenty-five years, Patty Pike, of Belmont and her family, daughters, Bonnie Greeley of Laconia and Terri Shute of Belmont, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 6:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia.  Rev. John Davies, Spiritual Care Coordinator Community Health & Hospice, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Belknap County Sportsmen’s Association, Inc., PO Box 214, Laconia, N. H. 03247-0214.
