James Clayton Greenwood

WARNER----James Clayton Greenwood, 62, a former Belmont resident died Dec. 14, 2009 at his home in Warner, N.H.

He was born in Plymouth, N.H., on July 7, 1947, the son of Clayton M. and Louise (Dempsey) Greenwood and had lived in the Laconia/Belmont area most of his life. Upon graduation from Belmont High School, he enlisted in the Navy, serving in the United States and Vietnam. He served two combat tours in Vietnam and was a POW. He continued military service in the Army Reserves for several years.

Mr. Greenwood enjoyed hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. He also enjoyed riding his Harley and working with the family dogs (6 Newfoundlands) that were trained as therapy dogs and brought much enjoyment to nursing home residents. He and his wife were responsible for starting the “Read to a Dog Program” in the Warner area.

Mr. Greenwood is survived by his wife, Gloria (Roy) Greenwood of Warner; a daughter, Kristen Adomeit, and her husband, Paul, of West Hartford, CT; two grandchildren, Nathan and Nicole Adomeit; a sister, Patricia G. Millette, and her husband, Leo, of Tilton, NH; several nieces, cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents and a nephew.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, December 18, 2009 from 9:00-10:00AM at St. Joseph Parish, 96 Main Street, Belmont, N.H. followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00AM.

Spring burial will be in South Road Cemetery, Belmont.
