Winnifred "Winnie" R. Nadeau

Gilford---- Winnifred “Winnie” R. Nadeau, 84, formerly of Old Lake Shore Road, Gilford, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, after a period of failing health. She had been a resident of Forestview Manor in Meredith for the past 18 months. She was the widow of Roland J. Nadeau who died in 1989.

Mrs. Nadeau was born May 24, 1924, in Laconia .  She was the daughter of Joseph and Laura (Picard) Theberge. She was a life long resident of the Lakes Region.

Mrs. Nadeau was an active member and communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Saint Anne’s Society. An avid golfer, Winnie was the 1990 Seniors Champion and 1991 Seniors Runner-up at Pheasant Ridge Country Club. Winnie also participated on several bowling leagues, serving as team captain for “Winnie’s Warriors” at Funspot, and most recently extended her bowling finesse as a member of the “Wii” Bowling League on Liberty Hill. Among her many other passions were playing cards with her sisters and friends, solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles, bird watching, and spending time with her family.  Her fun-loving spirit and ready laughter will be dearly missed.

Survivors include 3 daughters Joanne and her husband Doug Boudreau of Meredith, Elaine and her husband Roy Barros of Gilford, and Patricia and her husband Bill Colby of Laconia; 2 sons Jerry Nadeau of Ashland and Robert Nadeau and his wife Gwynne of Gilford; 7 grandchildren: Christine Boudreau, Tricia Ledoux, Brenden Nadeau, Nathan Barros, and Jacob, Leah, and Stephen Colby; 3 sisters:  Blanche Marquis of Gilford, Evelyn Morin of Laconia and Doris Hickey of Lakeport; and many nieces and nephews.  Beside her parents and husband she was predeceased by a son Ronald S. Nadeau in 1973 and by a sister Isabelle DeBlois.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday December 30, 2008 from 4-7 PM using the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street , Laconia .

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church , 291 Union Ave. Laconia Wednesday December 31, 2008 at 10:30 AM . The Rev. Adrien Longchamps, pastor of the church, will be the celebrant.

Spring burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery , Laconia .

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the New Hampshire Humane Society P.O. Box 572 Laconia , NH 03247-0572 or to Community Health & Hospice 780 North Main Street, Laconia NH 03246.
