Marjorie C. Hunter

Laconia-- Marjorie C. Hunter passed away peacefully at Lakes Region General Hospital on Dec. 7th surrounded by her family.  Marjorie was born in Lowell, MA on Oct. 11, 1931, the daughter of John J. & Helen (Hayward) Carr and was raised in Chelmsford.  She graduated from Vermont Junior College in 1951.

She was predeceased by her husband, J. Russell Hunter, in 1973 and her daughter, Ann H. Scott, in 1994.  Marjorie is survived by her son, David R. Hunter, daughter-in- law, Kay Lea, granddaughters, Samantha and Jaime, of Meredith, N.H.  She is also survived by another son, James S. Hunter, daughter-in-law, Caroline, granddaughters, Courtney of Laguna Hills, Calif. and Cassie and a grandson, J. Russell, both of Gilford, N.H.,  Marjorie’s son-in-law, Jon R. Scott, his wife, Sarah, of Limerick, ME. and granddaughters, Sara and Jeni Scott of Los Angeles, CA; Lee Burt, Marjorie’s sister, has lived in Gilford for over 52 years; and many extended family members throughout the country.

After being stationed at Lackland Air Force base with her husband in the 50's, they settled in Holliston, MA. in 1956.  The Hunters began summering in Meredith on Lake Winnipesaukee in N.H. in 1968.  Marjorie moved permanently to Laconia, N.H. in 1978.  Marge enjoyed people and was a waitress for many years.  She worked at Walters Dairy Bar in Holliston, the Gandy Dancer restaurant in Weirs Beach and most recently Hector’s Fine Food and Spirits in Laconia.  She was at Hectors for over 22 years .

Marge loved her family and friends.  She enjoyed her summers on the lake, sitting on the front porch of the cottage watching the boats and the sunsets.  The door was always open at the cottage and everyone was welcome.   She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren at their athletic events, whether it was basketball, volleyball, hockey, softball, baseball or football she never missed an event.   She will be missed dearly by all whose lives were touched by her.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Gilford Community Church, 19  Potter Hill Rd., Gilford, N.H. on Dec. 12 at 10:00 AM.  Burial will follow at 2:30 PM at the family plot at Lake Grove Cemetery, Highland Street, Holliston, Mass.

 Donations can be made in her memory to the Lakes Region General Hospital hematology and oncology dept., 80 Highland Street, Laconia, N.H. 03246.
