Laconia-----Dana A. Roy, 58, of 20 Winnicoash Street, died suddenly in the emergency room at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Sunday, December 7, 2008.

Dana was born April 11, 1950 in Littleton, N.H., the son of Phillip M. and the late Eileen (McCaffrey) Roy. He was raised in Laconia and graduated from Laconia High School in 1968 and from the University of New Hampshire in 1972.

Dana resided in the seacoast area for many years before moving back to Laconia earlier this year. For the past three years, Dana had been employed by Car People Marketing, Inc. and had formerly been employed as the New England District Manager for Explorer Van Co. for eighteen years.

Dana was an outstanding athlete in high school and college. He was an excellent golfer and loved playing golf weekly with his father and family members. He was a member of the New Hampshire Seniors Golf Association. He also enjoyed relaxing at the beach. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church.

Dana is survived by his father, Phillip M. Roy, of Laconia; two brothers, Kevin P. Roy and his wife, Roslyn, of Gilford and Thomas J. Roy of Ipswich, Mass.; a sister and brother-in-law, Dale A. and David Nims, of Laconia; five nephews and nieces and his former wife and loving friend, Jo Anne Roy, of Seabrook. In addition to his mother, Mr. Roy was predeceased by a brother, Keith M. Roy.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 from 6:00-9:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 11:00AM at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, NH by Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of the Church.

Spring burial will be in the family lot in Riverside Cemetery, Lincoln, N.H.
