Roger J. Fortin

Laconia-----Roger J. Fortin, 83, of 175 Blueberry Lane and formerly of Winnisquam, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Tuesday December 23, 2008. Mr. Fortin was the widower of Carol H. (Dow) Fortin who died in 1979.

Roger was born December 4, 1925 in Laconia, N.H., the son of Emile and Yvonne (Bolduc) Fortin. He has been a resident of Winnisquam for over fifty years before moving to Laconia.

Roger served in the US Army in France during WWII. He was a self-employed carpenter.

Roger is survived by a brother, Renaud Fortin of Ceres, Californa; two sisters, Theresa Drouin of Peterborough and Arlene Sayward of Lochmere; many nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces. In addition to his wife, Roger was predeceased by three brothers, Arthur Fortin, Paul Fortin and Maurice Fortin and by a sister, Rachel LaPlante.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008 from 5:00pm-7:00pm in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H. A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 7:00pm.

Spring Burial will be in the South Road Cemetery, Belmont. N.H.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Maurice J. Fortin Memorial Fund, c/o Laconia Savings Bank, 62 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H. 03246.
