Laconia-----Mary E. Emery, 84, of 5 Parsonage Drive, died at Lakes Region General Hospital on Thursday, December 18, 2008. Mrs. Emery was the widow of Alvah Emery who died in 1982.

Mrs. Emery was born September 1, 1924 in Council Grove, Kansas, the daughter of Ulysses and Pearl (Wyatt) Ellis.

Mrs. Emery was a longtime resident of Laconia and was employed at the Laconia Shoe Co. for some years. She also lived in Arizona for several years but returned to Laconia in 2001.

Mrs. Emery was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Mrs. Emery truly understood the meaning of unconditional love and SERVICE. She won many awards for service and volunteered many hundreds of hours for the American Red Cross, and desert West Senior Center in Arizona. Mary was a kind and giving person loved by all who had the privilege to know her.

Survivors include a son, John Emery, of Laconia and his son John Emery of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Ruth Knytych, her husband Greg, and their daughters Kaylee and Taylor Knytych of Laconia; daughter Lily Emery of Laconia and Lily’s daughters Michelle Davis of Lakeland Fl, and Tiffany Packer of Laconia. Mary had eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Emery was predeceased by her daughter, Norma Butterworth of Pittsfield who’s son David Simonds also lives in Laconia.

There will be no calling hours or funeral service.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Easter Seals Adult Day Care, 17A Church Street, Laconia NH.
