Ethel "Lu" G. Browning

Laconia-----Ethel “Lu” G. Browning, 70, of 128 Leighton Avenue North, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Tuesday, December 26, 2006.

         Lu was born February 8, 1936 in East Aurora, NY, the daughter of Albert and Sarah (Harris) Griffin and was a long time resident of New York. From 1973-1986, she summered in Laconia and became a full time resident in 1986 at which time their home became an informal “Bed & Breakfast” for their many friends and relatives.  Lu and Chuck wintered in Fort Myers, Florida for many years.

Lu was a member of the United Methodist Church of Laconia-Gilford and was a member of the Tuesday Quilting Group.  Family and friends were a very important part of Lu’s life.  She was loved by so many and will be missed dearly.

         Survivors include her husband, Charles “Chuck” C. Browning, Jr., of Laconia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Jon Jurta of Gilford, NH and Tracy and Ned Lane of Ashburn, VA; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Christopher and Shannon ; a sister, Winnie Bove, of East Aurora, NY and many nephews and nieces.  She was predeceased by a son, Michael C. Browning, in 1975.

         There will be no calling hours.

         A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2006 at 1:00PM at the First United Methodist Church, 500 Gilford Avenue, Gilford, NH.  Rev. Dr. Victoria Wood Parrish, Pastor of the Church, will officiate.

         Burial will follow in the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia, NH.

         In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to a charity of one’s choice or to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH. 03246
