Ann Lorinda "Lindy" (Arnold) Powers

Laconia, NH-----Anna Lorinda “Lindy” (Arnold) Powers, 84, of 175 Blueberry Lane, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, December 19, 2005 in the Homestead Unit of Genesis Eldercare, Laconia Center.

Mrs. Powers was born July 12, 1921 on the family farm in Cedar, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd H. and Ida Pearl (Beadle) Arnold. She graduated from Cedar High School then worked in Oskaloosa, Iowa where she met and married the love of her life, Ernest Carroll Powers, in 1939.

In 1942, they moved to East Moline, then Moline, Illinois where they remained until 1989 when they moved to their retirement home in Largo, Florida.

Mrs. Powers was very active in the First Methodist Church of Moline as well as many civic organizations. She was a homemaker while raising their children, then worked at Moline Arrow Pattern and later the Trust Department of Moline National Bank.

Her family says of her, “Mom was very involved in our lives, spending numerous hours at our many activities.

She and Dad always put family first and lived their lives for their children. We will miss her dearly but are at peace knowing that her many years of battling Alzheimer ’s Disease is finally over.” Mrs. Powers is survived by her husband of 66 years, “Ernie” Powers of Casselberry, FL and their four children and their spouses; Sherry and Alan Galbavy of Winter Spring, FL, Kathie and Brad Brown of Laconia, NH, Susan and Donald Wood of Frederick, MD and Kevin of Illinois; grandchildren, Kevin and John Galbavy, Tanya Stern, Amie Hayward, Kimber Dolloff, Tiffany Dinsmoore, Robert “RW” Farkas and Raina Powers; eight great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to any local Alzheimer’s Association.

Arrangements are being handled by the Bates Funeral Chapel of Oskaloosa, IA where a graveside service will be held at a later date. Local arrangements are in charge of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
