Ernestine S. Melcher

Laconia------Ernestine S. Melcher, 92, of Holman Street, died at the St. Francis Healthcare Center on Thursday, December 29, 2005. She was the widow of Milo G. Melcher who died in 1987.

Mrs. Melcher was born August 5, 1913 in W. Somerville, MA, the daughter of Ernest G. and Ada W. (Gray) Shumway. She lived in W. Somerville, Arlington and Framingham, MA for many years and was employed at P. G. Gray Co. Boston. She had been a resident of Laconia for over sixty years.

Mrs. Melcher was a member of the Laconia Congregational Church and the Laconia Woman’s Club. She was a former member of the Opechee Garden Club.

Survivors include a niece, Deborah Robichaud and her husband, Alan, of Belmont, NH and a nephew, Robert Gray Lewis and his wife, Debbie, of Seattle, Washington; one grandniece and one grandnephew. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor S. Lewis, in 2004.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH on Saturday, December 31, 2005 at 11:00AM. Rev. Dr. Warren H. Bouton, Pastor of the Laconia Congregational Church, will officiate. Spring Burial will be in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Laconia Congregational Church, Dorcas Fund, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia, NH 03246.
