Howard Dana Wells

Belmont, NH-----Howard Dana Wells, 73, of 28 Cherry Lane, Highland, Illinois and a former, long time resident of Belmont, NH died at the St. Joseph Hospital in Highland, Illinois on Wednesday, December 25, 2002.

          Mr. Wells was born November 24, 1929 in Natick, MA, the son of Herbert A. & Effie M. (Noyes) Wells. He graduated from Alton High School, Alton, NH in 1949 and attended the Thompson School of Agriculture at the University of New Hampshire.  He lived in Belmont, NH for many years before moving to Illinois in July of 2002.  He served in the U. S. Army from 1947-1948 and in the U. S. Navy from 1952 to 1956.

Over the years, Mr. Wells worked for Charles C. Rogers Co., Laconia, NH, Lanier Office Co., NH Ballbearing, Laconia, NH, D.S.C. Courier Service of Laconia, NH and for Quality Controls Inc. in Tilton, NH. Mr. Wells retired in 1994 and spent time with his grandchildren and doing tasks around the house until his wife’s retirement.  In July of 2002, they moved to Highland, IL.  They enjoyed traveling with their Travel Trailer.

          Mr. Wells was a former 4-H Leader in Gilford and Belmont, NH and a former Co-director of the 4-H Drum & Bugle Corp.

          Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Carole A. (Jordan) Wells of Highland, IL; two sons, Dana H. Wells and his wife, Tracy,  of Westerly, Rhode Island and Timothy S.  Wells of Laconia, NH; a daughter, Wanda K Head and her husband, Michael, of Highland, IL;  six grandchildren, Ryan Maslar of North Dartmouth, MA, Jaime Maslar of Highland, IL, Sean Wells, of Nashua, NH, Andrew Wells, Christopher Wells, and Zachary Wells all of  Westerly, RI.; one great grandchild, Tristan Maslar of Highland, IL; three brothers, Herbert Wells and his wife, Gertrude, of Port Charles, Florida; Robert Wells of Hudson, MA and Linwood Wells and his wife, Diana, of Gilford, NH; one sister, Priscilla Parsons and her husband, Frank, of New Durham, NH; and many nephews and nieces.  He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Black of Versailles, KY in 2001 and by two grandchildren, including Jessica Wells.

          Calling Hours will be held on Monday. December 30, 2002 from 7-9 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH

          The Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated at St. Joseph Parish in Belmont, NH on Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at 10:00AM. 

Graveside Services will be held in the family lot at South Road Cemetery in Belmont on Saturday, May 24, 2003 at 11:00AM
