Zephrin "Zip" Adrien Belleau
Send a condolence note

Laconia----Zephirin “Zip” Adrien Belleau, 94, of 117 Gilford Avenue, quietly slipped away to his Heavenly Father at his home on Wednesday evening, August 26, 2009.

A lifelong resident, Zip was born December 5, 1914 in Laconia the son of the late Joseph Luc and Marie Albia (Lefebvre) Belleau. He married Nadine Ellacoya Lundgren of Wolfeboro in 1937 and was later divorced.

Zip was a successful businessman and owner-operator of Zip’s Used Cars formerly located at 243 Court Street in Laconia for more than twenty years, with a Cadillac being his favorite car. He was an excellent salesman and his favorite introduction was, “You look familiar”. However, it was not a line most of the time because he usually knew their family and relatives. He was proud to be a car dealer and did most of the mechanic work and detailing himself. He became an accomplished auto body repairman and painter. He always let his family know how important his dealer plate number “380” was to him.

Zip also loved to cook and chased everywhere for the freshest of foods. His grandparents Mathilda and Narcisse Lefebvre owned the first bakery in Laconia which is where he gained his love for cooking. He also loved to roller skate, ice skate, and dance and he was very good. With his love for music he was self taught and accomplished in playing the guitar, banjo, and harmonica. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.

Zip will be greatly missed and is survived by his longtime companion and caregiver, Bertha E. Drouin of Laconia who lovingly cared for him until the day he left us; his two children, Wayne A.Belleau and Marjorie L. Woods and her husband Ronald all of Kaysville, Utah; a cousin, Irene Legassie of Laconia; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren also survive Zip.

The family of Zip would like to extend a special thank you to Richard Woods, and Kathleen Sherwell as well as all the staff of Community Health & Hospice for their care and support during Zip’s illness. Also a special thank you to a real friend, Dan Levesque.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia with Rev. Matthew J. Mason, associate pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia, NH.

For those who wish, the family suggests expressions of sympathy in Zip’s name may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., Memorial Gifts, 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246 or visit www.chhnh.org.
