Virginia Abbie (Prescott) Scovill

Gilmanton Iron Works, NH---Virginia Abbie (Prescott) Scovill, 86, of 815 Mountain Road, died at the Riverside Rest Home in Dover on Sunday afternoon, August 17, 2008. Born in Barnstead, NH on November 10, 1922, she was the daughter of Harold Franklin Prescott and Caroline H. (Eastman) Prescott.

Mrs. Scovill was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who  worked on the family poultry farm for much of her life and worked  several years in food service at the Barnstead Elementary School. A  dedicated Christian, she was also an avid reader and a talented  bookkeeper, seamstress and cook. She loved her garden and house  plants. In her younger years, she served the community as an organist  in her church and taught Sunday school as well as 4-H crafts. She was  also a member of the Ladies Aide.

Family members include son, Judson Scovill, and wife, Teri, of Seattle,  WA; daughter, Mildred Parks, and husband, Thomas, of Dover, N.H.,  daughter, Winifred Young, and husband, Robert, of Northwood, N.H.;  daughter-in-law, Karen Scovill, of Gilmanton I.W. and grandchildren,  Mercedes Bower, Blake Johnston, John Parks, Tom Parks III,, Bryan  Scovill, Sara Scovill, Ken Scovill and Frank Weeks and great-grandchildren, Suzy and Tina Parks,  Kayla and Colin Bower and Aaron and Andrea Alie.  She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence, in 
2000 and by a son, Paul Scovill, in 1991.

There are no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held at a later time.
