Ralph C. Tucker

Laconia----Ralph C. Tucker, 82, of 70 Fairmont Street, Lakeport, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, on Monday, August 21, 2006.

Mr. Tucker was born May 14, 1924 in Dover, NH, the son of C. Augustus and Gladys (Emerson) Tucker.

Mr. Tucker grew up on his grandparents’ farm in Gilford.  He attended Laconia High School until 1942 when he left to join the U. S. Navy during WWII.

Mr. Tucker was employed by the Public Service Co. of N.H. for thirty-six years, retiring on October 1, 1984.  He also served as a special officer for the Laconia Police Department as well as the Belknap County Sheriff’s Department.

Mr. Tucker was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over fifty five years.  He was an Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop #243 for thirteen years.  Mr. Tucker was a very active member of the Belknap County Sportsmen’s Club as well as a fifty-three year member of the Mt. Lebanon Lodge #32 F. & A. M.  He enjoyed fishing, was an avid hunter and loved the out of doors.  He devoted his life to his family, home, church, work and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia E. (Noyes) Tucker, of Lakeport; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy T. and David Williamson, of Underhill, Vermont; a daughter-in-law, Judi L. Tucker, of Meredith; six grandchildren, Tucker, Brianne and Shelby Williamson of Underhill, Vermont, David Tucker and his wife, Kim, and Heidi Tucker of Meredith, NH and Major Chris Byler and his wife, Patricia, of  Richmond Hill, Georgia; six great grandchildren, Tyler, Tiffany and Kelsey Tucker all of Meredith and Steven and Matthew Nyberg and Kelly Michelle Byler all of Richmond Hill, Georgia; a sister, Vera T. Craig, of Ft. Meyers, Florida; a sister-in-law, Agnes Tucker, of New York; three nephews, Eric Craig, David Craig and James Craig and a niece, Patricia T. Barber.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was predeceased by a son, Michael S. Tucker, in July, 1995, by a great grandson, Joshua Tucker, in Sept., 2002, by a brother, Oscar Tucker, in October, 1969 and by a niece, Ann C. Brooks, in February 1982.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at 11:00AM at the First United Methodist Church, 500 Gilford Avenue, Rte 11A, Gilford, NH.  Rev. Dr. Victoria Wood Parrish, Pastor of the Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in the family lot in Oakland Cemetery, Meredith, NH.  

The family has requested no flowers. Memorial donations may be made to the Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation (for the Michael S. Tucker Memorial Scholarship Fund), PO Box 7312, Gilford, NH 03247-7312.
