Robert Rice "Bud" Estabrook

Dorchester, NH---Robert Rice “Bud” Estabrook, 83, died at Genesis ElderCare, Laconia Center, Laconia, NH on Friday, August 26, 2005.

Mr. Estabrook was born August 6, 1922 in Stow, MA, the son of the late Fred B. and Nina (Rice) Estabrook. He had been a resident of Dorchester, NH for the past 16 years after being a long time resident of Bolton, MA.

He graduated Boston University School of Journalism after serving in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He was the owner, editor, sales manager and past president of the Fred B. Estabrook Co., Inc. where he worked for 60 years.

Mr. Estabrook was active in local government serving 12+ years on the Bolton (MA) Planning Board followed by many years on the Zoning Board of Appeals. He served in Dorchester, NH as a selectman for 6 years and also ran for state representative in 2002. He was on the Bolton (MA) Fair Committee for 40+ years and also served as president for many of those years. He was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, raising and showing Corriedale and natural colored sheep. He was the former owner of West Pond Farms in Bolton, MA, Brainardsville, NY and Dorchester, NH. He loved to travel and attended 5 World Congresses for Coloured Sheep held all over the world.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Olivia (Willis) of Dorchester, NH; a son, Joel Estabrook of Brainardsville, NY; 3 daughters, Susan Miles of Bolton, MA; Audrey Estabrook of New Hampton, NH; Dawn Chicoine of Ashburnham, MA; 8 grandchildren, Nicole and Michelle Estabrook of Brainardsville; Noelle Wise of Bolton. MA; Joseph and Miriam Blais of New Hampton, NH; Andrew, Nathan, and Sarah Chicoine of Ashburnham, MA; 2 nephews; 2 nieces and 2 step grandsons, Robert and Justin Blais of NH and WA. Beside his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Lynne Estabrook, and 2 brothers, Roland and John Estabrook.

A graveside service was held Tuesday August 30 at South Bolton Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 18, 2005 at 4:00 PM at the First Parish of Bolton (formerly the Federated Church) on Main Street, Bolton, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a scholarship fund in Bud’s name c/o The Bolton Fair, PO Box 154, Bolton, MA 01740.
