Diane Lorraine Damato

Send a condolence note

Sanbornton, NH-----Mrs. Diane Lorraine Damato, 57, of Lower Bay Road, died, in the loving and safe company of her family, from ovarian cancer on Friday, August 19, 2005.

Diane was born October 2, 1947 in Lowell, MA, the daughter of Robert and Lorraine (Deshneaux) Ducharme. She graduated from Chelmsford High School and then graduated from Chamberlanyne College with a degree in interior design.

Diane was a long time resident of Westord, MA and was a devoted member of the Westford Garden Club, Junior Women’s League, Westford School System’s PTA and started the Westford Food Pantry. Twenty-two years ago she moved to Sanbornton and was co-founder of the family business, the Ferry Point House Bed and Breakfast. She spent twenty years of her life building, decorating and running this beautiful Victorian B&B. Many hours were spent caring for her guests and creating what the B&B is still today: a comfortable place to relax and be at peace.

Diane’s passion was caring for her family whom she loved unconditionally. She lived her life putting her family before herself. Her life was a perfect example of her favorite saying, “Laughter is the shock absorber of life”. Diane was a communicant of St. Joseph Parish, Belmont, NH.

Survivors include her loving husband, Joseph, of Sanbornton; her mother, Lorraine Ducharme, of Dracut, MA; a son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Andrea Damato, of Laconia; a daughter, Danielle Damato, and her fiancé, Charles Johnson, both of San Francisco, CA; one grandson, Joseph Damato, of Laconia; a sister, Suzanne Lumia of Hudson, NH; a niece, Kim Silva and her husband, Roy, of Hudson, NH and a nephew Anthony Lumia of Nashua, NH. She was predeceased by her father, Roger Ducharme, and by her brother-in-law, Jimmy Lumia.
