Gertrude L. (Yetman) Beland

Laconia--Gertrude L. (Yetman) Beland, 91, died August 23, 2005 at Lakes Region General Hospital surrounded by her family following a period of failing health. She was born March 7, 1914 in Boston, the daughter of William and Mary Catherine (Moore) Yetman. She grew up and worked in the greater Boston area until moving away after World War II.

Mrs. Beland had been a resident of the Belknap County Nursing Home since 2002. Prior to that she lived at Forestview Manor in Meredith. During the 1970’s and 80’s she lived with her daughter Kathy in Lakeport and was an active member of the Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, where she volunteered at the New To You Shop.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Patrick J. Collins of Manchester in 1967 and her second husband, Arthur O. Beland of Nashua in 1996. She was also predeceased by five brothers, William Yetman, Francis Yetman, Gerald Yetman, Leo Yetman and John Yetman and one sister, Mary Yetman Morgan. She was also predeceased by one great-grandson, Kyle LaVerne in 1992.

Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Thomas J. and Susan Collins of Ballston Lake, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and David McCabe of Meredith; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jim Bellinghieri of Derry and son and daughter-in-law, James R. and Valerie Collins of Billerica, MA. Grandchildren: Kathleen Maglione of Schuylerville, NY; Brian McCabe and wife Loren of Canterbury; Dr. Michael Collins and wife Dr. Sarah of Schenectady, NY; Shauna Fuerst and husband Paul of Mansfield, MA; Toby Cappello and husband Charlie of Derry; Scott Collins of Chelmsford, MA; and Emily Collins of Billerica, MA. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Robert K. and Jean Yetman of Wilmington, MA.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 25, 2005 from 4-8 PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia, Friday, August 26, 2005 at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Adrien Longchamps, pastor of the church, will be the celebrant. Burial, with a private family service, will be held in St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua, NH.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Belknap County Nursing Home Activities Fund, 30 County Drive, Laconia, NH 03246 or a charity of one’s choice.
