Donald J. Leith

Belmont-----Donald J. Leith, 95, of 38 Concord Street, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Monday, August 5, 2002. Mr. Leith was the widower of Frances M. (Thrippleton) Leith who died in 1997.

Mr. Leith was born October 30, 1906 in Northhampton, MA, the son of Donald and Wilhelmina (Ruscher) Leith. He lived in Belmont for over 70 years and worked at Scott & Williams for many years. Mr. Leith was the oldest member of the Belmont Fire Department and was a former chief of Police in Belmont, retiring in 1964 due to ill health. He was a member of the Lakes Region Sled Dog Association. He loved his cat, Tiger, and enjoyed gardening and his trip to Alaska.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna J. Lacasse of Belmont; two grandchildren, Marcus Weeks of Belmont and Bonnie Glasgow of Fayetteville, N.C; a step granddaughter, Kathi Lacasse; two great grandchildren, Rachael Weeks and Brian Weeks both of Belmont; several brothers and sisters and many nephews and nieces.

A calling hour will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2002 from 1:00-2:00 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH. A Funeral Service will follow the calling hour at 2:00PM at the Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Crook, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Belmont, will officiate. Burial will be held on Monday August 12, 2002 at 2:00PM in the family lot in South Road Cemetery, Belmont, NH.
