Elwin H. "Pop" Tardy

Gilford, NH----Elwin H. “Pop” Tardy, 75, of Gilford, N.H., died at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, on Wednesday, April 7, 2010.

Mr. Tardy was born on March 12, 1935 to Roy and Evelyn (Dehart) Tardy of Gilford, N.H.

“Al” started out as a carpenter and continued for 58 years. He was known as “Mr. Fix it” to everyone. He worked at Carpenter/Bergen-Paterson Pipe Support Corp. for twenty-two years and then worked for nineteen years at the Taylor Home Community in Laconia in the maintenance department before retiring in 2007.

“Pop” enjoyed his family and many hours of puzzle making and loved to make anything out of wood. He always had a smile on his face, loved to kid around and had many friends. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Gay (Fournier) Tardy, of Gilford. N.H.; his three sons and one daughter, Michael and Pamela (Wood) Tardy of Gilford, Stephen Tardy and Gail Rock of Laconia, John and Sandy (Rousseau) Tardy of Lakeland, Fla. and Elaine (Tardy) Morel and her husband, Gary Morel, of Laconia; two sisters, Caroline Tardy, of Conn., June (Tardy) Emery of Laconia, NH; thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Mary Senna, of Belmont, NH.

There will be no calling hours or services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Covenant Christian Church, 31 Lindsay Court, Laconia, NH 03246.
