Joan L. Pong

Laconia-----Joan L. Pong, 55, of 1156 North Main Street died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Saturday, April 10, 2010.

Mrs. Pong was born March 24, 1955 in Revere, Mass., the daughter of the late Eleanor M. (McCulsky) and Frank E. Amirault, Sr.

Mrs. Pong lived in Boston, Mass. before moving to Laconia in 1979. She was a member of the New Hampshire Inter-Tribal Council.

Mrs. Pong is survived by her husband, Barry L. Pong, of Laconia; five granddaughters; two grandsons; a brother, George L. Amirault; a sister, Nancy M. Amirault and several nephews and nieces. She was a descendant of the Micmac Tribe of Nova Scotia and was Native Mother of Jennifer L. Tucker of New Hampshire and Native Aunt to Amanda L. Marden of Gilford. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pong was predeceased by a daughter, Judith A. Pong, by a sister, Eleanor M. Clapp and by a brother, Frank E. Amirault, Jr.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 from 6:00-8:00PM at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 1:30 PM at St. James Episcopal Church, 876 North Main Street, Laconia, N. H. 03246.
Burial will follow in the family lot in the Smith Meeting House Cemetery, Gilmanton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Hampshire Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia, N. H. 03247.
