Phyllis H. Sloan

Laconia-----Phyllis H. Sloan, 98, formerly of 73 Shore Drive, died at the Taylor Home on Monday, April 6, 2009. Mrs. Sloan was the widow of Jason C. Sloan who died in 1996.

Mrs. Sloan was born July 17, 1910 in Tilton, N. H., the daughter of Margaret and Percival (Canning) Hounsell. She lived in Saugus, Mass. before moving to Laconia eight-two years ago.

Mrs. Sloan was employed at the Laconia Federal Savings & Loan for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1974.

Mrs. Sloan was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. She was a member of the N.H. Humane Society and the Laconia Historical Museum Society and was a former member of the Laconia Country Club.

Mrs. Sloan is survived by several nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents and her husband,

Mrs. Sloan was predeceased by a brother, Clarence Hounsell and by a sister, Marian Wyman

According to Mrs. Sloan’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

Burial will be in the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia, N. H.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the N. H. Association for the Blind, McGreal Sight Center, 25 Walker Street, Concord, NH 03301-9977.
