Laconia---Elizabeth M. Paulsen, 93, of the Taylor Community and formerly of Old North Main Street, died at her home on Sunday, April 26, 2009. She was the widow of Norman Paulsen who died in 1993.
Mrs. Paulsen was born November 2, 1915 in Greenville, New Hampshire, the daughter of Robert M. and Edna (Lowe) Grey. She had been a resident of Laconia since 1988, coming from Woburn, Mass.
Mrs. Paulsen graduated from Wellesley College in 1937 and was a teacher in Massachusetts for many years. She taught history in Brookline and Burlington High Schools as well as at Northfield-Mt. Hermon in Northfield, Massachusetts.
Mrs. Paulsen was a member of the Laconia Congregational Church and a former member of the First Congregational Church of Woburn.
Survivors include a step-son, Fredric Paulsen, of Petersburg, Alaska; 3 step-daughters, Martha Clement of Laconia, Ellen Wiklanski of North Reading, Mass. and Karen Durand of Charleston, South Carolina; eleven step-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. Beside her parents and husband she was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Grey and David Grey.
There are no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2009 at 10:00 at the Congregational Church of Laconia, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia, NH. The Rev. Dr. Warren H. Bouton, Pastor of the church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn, Mass. at 11:00am on Saturday, May 2, 2009.
In lieu of flowers please send a card, note or flowers to someone you may not have seen in a while or memorial donations may be made to the Dorcas Fund of the Congregational Church of Laconia, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia, N. H. 03246.
