Nancy Jane Meckstroth

Meredith-----Nancy Jane Meckstroth, 67, died at her home with her family at her side on Thursday, April 23, 2009.

Mrs. Meckstroth was born January 19, 1942 in Defiance County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Edward and late Elaine (Pervine) Sines.

Following her graduation from Bowling Green State University, Mrs. Meckstroth worked as an elementary school teacher at various locations in the Midwest before moving to Gilford in 1975 with her husband to raise their family. Mrs. Meckstroth continued her teaching career in 1990 at Gilford Elementary School, retiring in 1999. Following her retirement, Mrs. Meckstroth and her husband moved from Gilford to Meredith.

Mrs. Meckstroth was a member of the Laconia Country Club and the Gilford Rotary Club. She served on the Board of Directors for both the Gunstock Ski Club and the Governor’s Island Club. She was an avid golfer and outdoorswoman who enjoyed hiking, biking and scuba diving. Nancy also loved boating, waterskiing and kayaking on Lake Winnipesaukee. She enjoyed traveling, and had her motorcycle license and her private pilot license.
Mrs. Meckstroth is survived by her husband, Don Meckstroth, of Meredith; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Suzanne Meckstroth of Ventura, California; a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Shad Blakey, of Eagle, Colorado; two young grandchildren, Larsen Meckstroth and Ellia Blakey; a brother, Lee Sines, of Newark, Ohio; a sister, Darlene Klopfenstein, of West Unity, Ohio; two nieces and two nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 from 5-8PM at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia NH using the Carriage House entrance.

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Laconia Congregational Church, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia. The Rev. Dr. Warren Bouton Pastor of the church will officiate.

Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Meredith Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lakes Region General Hospital, Oncology Department, 80 Highland Street, Laconia, N. H. 03246 or Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, N. H. 03246.
