Laconia----Alice B. Tefft, 94, of 114 North Street, Lakeport, died at the Goldenview Healthcare Center, Meredith on Saturday, April 15, 2006. Mrs. Tefft was the widow of Raymond C. Tefft who died March 15, 1997.

Mrs. Tefft was born July 5, 1911 in Milan, N. H., the daughter of Joseph and Carrie (Goud) Croteau. She graduated from Berlin (NH) High School in 1929 and from Plymouth Normal School, Plymouth, NH. She had been a teacher for forty-five years.

Mrs. Tefft taught for nine years in Lisbon, NH. In 1940, she moved to Laconia where she taught from 1940-1976 and was Principal of Washington Street School for twenty-eight years. She retired in 1976. Mrs. Tefft attended the United Baptist Church of Lakeport. She was a member of the New Hampshire Retired Teachers Association, the Lakes Region Teachers Association, the New Hampshire Humane Society and a member of the AARP.

Survivors include two grandnieces, Diane Corbett of Hilliard, Ohio and Marilyn Gerns of N. Lewisburg, Ohio.

According to Mrs. Tefft’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

Burial will be in the family lot at Bayside Cemetery.
