Stewart Ellsworth Vincent

Laconia-----Stewart Ellsworth Vincent, 86, of 155 Tiffany Dr., and formerly of Sleeper Hill Road Gilford, died at the Belknap County Nursing Home on Saturday, April 2, 2005 after a long illness.

Mr. Vincent was born September 7, 1918 in East Dedham, MA, the son of Philip E. and Rena (Green) Vincent. He moved to Gilford with his family at the age of one and was educated in the Laconia schools.

He and his family were engaged in dairy farming for forty years. They had a retail dairy route in the Laconia area and also raised strawberries. He later worked for the Arthur S. Brown Mfg. Co. in Tilton, NH where he remained for sixteen years before retiring in 1981.

Mr. Vincent was active in community and church affairs and was a member of the Laconia Congregational Church. He was a member of Mt. Belknap Grange No. 52 and served as Master in 1944. He also had a lifelong love of music and interest in violins and violin playing. He also enjoyed square dancing, metal and woodworking and designed and made many farm and household items. In later years, he became involved with the Hospice organization which he strongly believed in.

Mr. Vincent is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Bernice L. (Hatch) Vincent, of Laconia, NH; two daughters, Emily L. Vincent Wilcox of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Jean V. Shepard and her husband, Scott, of Davis, California; two step-daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Sharp and her husband, Bill, of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Marilyn Beaulieu and her husband, Dennis, of Barrington, NH; grandchildren, Katherine Elena Wilcox, Daniel Stewart Shepard, Katherine Elizabeth Shepard, William, Brett, and Brian Beaulieu, Heather Oldani, Erin Sharp and Megan Sharp; great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives in the U. S. and Canada. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Emily (Collins) Vincent; his sister, Dr. Norma H. Vincent, and his son-in-law, Robert D. Wilcox.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at 2:00 pm.

A private burial will be held in the family lot at Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford, NH at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246
